Special
Events at Happy Time
Happy Time Preschool
Curriculum
Happy Time has a
theme-based curriculum that changes each month.
The entire environment depicts the theme of the month.
-
Literacy
This print-rich environment allows the children to
see letters and words every day. Writing and forming letters
and numbers at the literacy center are available to the children.
We also have fun writing in shaving cream, with stamps and with
markers. Our large selection of language, literacy and
writing materials fosters growth in children and helps them as
they begin to write and tell stories.
Our program uses a "letter of the week" approach. This
teaches the names, shapes and sounds of letters and how those
sounds blend and make words and sentences.
-
Math
Math skills are learned with hands-on
experiences. The children begin to count higher, make class
graphs, use more difficult patterning skills and begin to add and
subtract.
-
Science
Science is the study of all things around us.
We can choose a subject and then explore how and why it was made.
-
Social
Time
Happy Time places a strong emphasis on social
interaction, emotional growth and independence. Children
learn to make good choices. There is a good amount of
child-directed play during the day.
-
Circle
Time
Circle Time helps children learn to function in
a group setting. There is a time to talk and a time to
listen. We learn from others.
-
Art
Children are exposed to all of our art
materials and are encouraged to explore at their own pace.
-
Assessments
Individual assessments are kept on each child so that we can
monitor his or her development throughout the year.
